About this archive
Your Wicked Obsession (yourwickedobsession.com) was Amber Christine’s poetry website. She published there as Wicked Obsession. The site’s motto was: “Do not fear the darkness that surrounds you. For it is the darkness of my heart that you should fear.”
This copy was made from the website’s recovered database in October 2026. It is a new, simple design made for reading; it is not a recreation of how the original site looked. The original site used a WordPress theme called “The Novelist” whose images and layout were not recovered.
What is here
- 108 poems and 1 other piece of writing (a thank-you note to readers), each on its own page.
- 1 unpublished draft, listed separately and labelled as a draft.
- 71 earlier or alternate versions, kept on each poem’s page under “Other versions”.
- 25 images recovered from the site, on the Images page.
How the text was preserved
- Titles, wording, spelling, capitalisation, punctuation and line breaks are exactly as they were stored on the website. Nothing was corrected or rewritten.
- Bold and underlined text (for example dedications) is kept. Blank lines at the very start or end of a poem, left over from the website editor, are not shown.
- Many poems were on the site twice: once as a page and once as a post in the “Poems” category. Each poem is shown once. The text shown is the final version of the Poems post, and every other copy is kept under “Other versions”. 34 of those copies have the same words with different spacing; 5 differ in wording.
- For 24 poems, the website also kept earlier saved versions from before they were edited. Where an earlier version has different wording from every published copy, it is kept under “Other versions” (32 in total).
- Some poems with different titles share much of their wording (for example a poem reworked under a new title). They are kept as separate poems and linked to each other under “Related”.
About the dates
Each poem is listed under the earliest date the website recorded for it. Each poem’s page lists every recorded date.
Many poems dated January to March 2013 were added to the site later, in July, August and December 2013, and given earlier dates in alphabetical order of title. Where the website’s records show this, the poem’s page says when the poem was actually added.
What was left out
- A WordPress demo post (“Hello world!”) and four empty placeholder pages (“Poetry”, “Reviews”, “About”, “Contact”) from an unfinished 2014 second version of the site.
- Readers’ comments, website settings, user accounts and anything else that was not writing.
- Smaller resized copies of the images that WordPress made automatically. The full-size originals are included.
