Poems
DIDN'T HAVE TO BE
I walk alone in this corridor,
These halls I have seen many times before.
I have been lost here in this place for far too long,
But I still feel as if I don’t belong.
No one can see me when I walk by,
And no one can hear me when I cry.
I didn’t want to leave so soon,
On the night of my honeymoon.
I left behind a broken man,
And my happiness ended before it began.
He couldn’t save me from my time,
When three men committed a horrible crime.
I know he feels guilty for not saving my life,
He couldn’t stand to lose his new wife.
Now he sits alone at my grave,
Wishing he could have been more brave.
